At the beginning of September, my boyfriend & I took a trip to Manchester. Once we decided we were going to Manchester, I knew we had to go to Menagerie but unfortunately all of the evening reservations for dinner were already booked up during our time there. So we decided on going for the second best thing, which was brunch.
I have seen so so many beautiful photos of Menagerie on Instagram over the years, and let me tell you, the actual venue did not disappoint. There were neon signs dotted around the restaurant, the bar was stunning and the furniture was just to die for. The tables make the perfect background for your food flatlays.
We went for brunch around lunchtime, so we had both the brunch and lunch plates on offer to us. The waitress immediately asked about allergies when seating us, which is an incredible thing that every restaurant should do. There were so many delicious things on the menu, it was hard to choose. I decided on the buttermilk pancakes with maple syrup and bacon, while Rhys went with the buttermilk chicken and waffles with maple syrup.
The Menagerie buttermilk pancakes were the best fluffy pancakes I’ve ever had, they were topped with icing sugar which made them so much more incredible and were so filling. Rhys also thoroughly enjoyed his chicken and waffles, which I thought were presented so cutely on the plate! I’d definitely love to try that dish if we were to go to Menagerie again.
Before leaving, I ensured that we found the famous Menagerie bathtub to take a photo by. I always see peoples photos next to the Menagerie bathtub on Instagram, I’d love to go back there for dinner and get all dressed up – mainly just for a nicer photo next to the bathtub!
We just went for a regular brunch at Menagerie and paid a £30 deposit, meaning after 2 brunch dishes and drinks that we had nothing to pay on the day! They also do a bottomless brunch for £45pp, including two dishes and unlimited prosecco/mimosa/bloody mary. I think that would definitely be great value as each dish is around £7 each.
Have you ever been to Menagerie?
