The Geese, Brighton

The outside of The Geese pub Brighton

I’ve been watching Zoe Sugg for years on YouTube, which means I have seen many a tasty Brighton roast dinner on her vlogs. I can’t quite remember whether The Geese was actually featured on any of Zoe’s vlogs, but when searching for ‘the best roast in Brighton’, The Geese was near the top of the list. Situated further out the way than we would’ve explored on foot, we were glad we researched beforehand as we definitely would’ve missed this place!

We made sure to pre-book our table because of the current situation to ensure we got to eat here, all of the tables were distanced really well and hand sanitiser was available on the way in. It took no time at all for the staff to take our drinks orders and we began to look at the food menu.

The Geese’s speciality throughout the week is Bangers and Mash. Before looking at their menu board I would’ve never realised there are so many different combinations for Bangers and Mash! If I do go back to Brighton I’d love to try out their speciality, the photos on their Instagram look delicious!

As it was Sunday, obviously we went for a classic Sunday roast. Unfortunately, they’d run out of lamb by the time we got there as we’d booked quite late in the afternoon, so if you want the lamb, I’d suggest you go for an earlier roast as it is quite popular!

I went for the garlic & thyme roast chicken (obviously) and my Mom went for the rump of beef. The roast came with an incredibly huge yorkshire pudding, the crispiest roast potatoes, parsnips, stuffing and seasonal green vegetables. It is also served with the perfect amount of gravy! We also ordered extra roast potatoes and pigs in blankets, which came with their own gravy.

If you’re looking for somewhere in Brighton to get a roast, I’d definitely recommend The Geese. The portion sizes are incredible and you definitely get your money’s worth – we’d love to try out their puddings next time but we were simply too full after such a delicious roast dinner. They also offer veggie and vegan options on their roast menu and their sausage and mash menu, so they really cater to everyone. I can see why they won the best roast in Brighton last year!
