What I’ve Seen At The Cinema | January – June 2018

I feel like I’ve barely been to the cinema this year compared to last year, but I’ve still managed to see most of the films I wanted to see. The films I’ve seen so far in the cinema this year are all completely different genres, I don’t have any particular genre of film I prefer, it just depends on my mood.

Darkest Hour

I think this is the best film I’ve seen this year! I went to see this with my Mom as it looked like her kind of film, and I love films relating to the World Wars too. This film is all about Churchill becoming Prime Minister, World War II being declared not long afterwards and the struggles he faced as Prime Minister during wartime. I think Gary Oldman plays Winston Churchill very well, and there are many elements of humour to be found in this film. I’d definitely recommend watching this if you’re looking for something different.

Coco

I am a huge lover of Disney films so when I saw the trailer for this in the cinema, I knew I’d have to see it. Coco is all about the Day of the Dead, which is a Mexican holiday. I loved Coco a lot more than I thought I would, and I’d say this is one of the best Pixar films. The soundtrack is amazing – I love listening to it whilst I’m baking – and me and my boyfriend also have a little inside joke for the song ‘Remember Me’.

Ready Player One

Ready Player One was amazing. It is set in the future in a world crumbling apart, where people escape to a gaming world called the Oasis. I found the way the film switched from live action to animated incredible and I was constantly on the edge of my seat. The soundtrack to this had me wanting to burst into song throughout. I’d recommend this film, especially if you’re into games!

Avengers Infinity War

Obviously I had to go and see Avengers Infinity War…even though I am furious that I have to wait nearly a year for the next one. This is the third Avengers film so far, and honestly even though this was an incredible watch, this was my least favourite one. That may be that it stressed me out not knowing what was going to happen though haha. If you haven’t seen it, I would definitely recommend it.

The Greatest Showman

I swear every man, woman and their dog have seen this film. I saw the trailer for this in the cinema and thought it would be awful – I know, I’m sorry – so I didn’t go and see it until it was nearly out of the cinema. If you haven’t seen it already, it’s a musical about P.T. Barnum and his show business becoming a worldwide sensation. The soundtrack is super catchy and it had a good story to it.

Deadpool 2

This is the funniest film, and the second Marvel film I’ve seen this year. I’ve seen Deadpool numerous times, in the cinema and on Netflix, and was so excited for the second one to come out. I wouldn’t say this is better than the first Deadpool, but it’s definitely on par. They casted so well with this, Ryan Reynolds is the perfect Deadpool.
