La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo[+] Unifiant

It is no secret that La Roche-Posay is my all-time favourite skincare brand and I love the original Effaclar Duo[+], so when I was asked if I wanted to try the new Effaclar Duo[+] Unifiant I was extremely excited! This offers a sheer coverage whilst still having all the properties and benefits of Effaclar Duo[+]. It's non-comedogenic, so it doesn't block pores like other tinted moisturiser type products might.

I apply this after my moisturiser and it leaves my skin feeling smooth and matte. It does have a very sheer coverage, which I like but what I specifically like about it is that it makes your pores invisible! I can see myself having more no-foundation days because of this, as hiding my pores is the main reason I wear foundation. It also works great as a primer underneath foundation. It feels so lightweight on your skin and is absorbed just as quickly as the original Effaclar Duo[+].

I have noticed since using this that my skin is less oily, it does a great job of mattifying my whole face, especially my T-Zone. Effaclar Duo[+] Unifiant is now definitely a staple in my skincare routine, it makes my skin so much less red and hides my pores and imperfections, it's great for using on no make-up days especially!
Have you tried the original Effaclar Duo[+]?

Top 10 Songs This Week #3

It is now week 3 of my 'Top 10 Songs This Week' and you're probably starting to notice I don't listen to much new/chart music at all. I love living in the past with music as I'm not too keen on the majority of new music unless it's by one of my favourite artists. However, I think everyone loves listening to songs from their early teenage years, possibly as a nostalgic thing, possibly just because you still love the music. In my case it's a bit of both and I've definitely been throwing it back a bit this week!

1. I'm Not Okay (I Promise) - My Chemical Romance
2. China Girl - David Bowie
3. Lazy Bones - Green Day
4. Is There Somewhere - Halsey
5. If These Sheets Were States - All Time Low
6. Rap For Rejection - Kate Nash
7. In Too Deep - Sum 41
8. Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me - She & Him
9. Like I Love You - Justin Timberlake
10. Lost - Katy Perry

Great British Bake Off Week 1 | Lemon Drizzle Cake

As everyone in the UK and probably now the world is well aware, the Great British Bake Off returned to our screens on Wednesday night for it's seventh series. Last year, although I didn't document it on here, I made something every week from the series and this year is no different. The first week was Cake Week and the first bake was a Drizzle Cake. I decided to make my Grandad's recipe for a Lemon Drizzle Cake given to me by my Mom.

You will need:
4oz/113g Soft Margarine
6oz/170g Self-Raising Flour
1 tsp Baking Powder
6oz/170g Caster Sugar
2 Eggs
4 tbsp Milk
Zest of 1 Lemon

Lemon Juice of 1 Lemon
4oz/113g Caster Sugar
Extra Caster Sugar for sprinkling on top

1. Mix the margarine, flour, baking powder, caster sugar, eggs, milk and lemon zest together well, until completely combined.
2. Put the mixture into a greased and lined loaf tin in the middle of the oven, on Gas Mark 4 for 45 minutes.
3. When you have taken the cake out of the oven, melt together the lemon juice and sugar in a saucepan.
4. Poke holes into the cake with a skewer and pour the syrup into the cake whilst it is still hot.
5. Sprinkle some sugar on top to finish.

I hope you enjoy this cake! Please tweet me if you make it.

Glastonberry Matte Revolution Lipstick | Charlotte Tilbury

I recently won a Charlotte Tilbury lipstick in Sally's giveaway and because we're coming up to Autumn, I chose the Matte Revolution lipstick in Glastonberry, everyone loves a berry lip in Autumn! I own Bond Girl in the same formula of lipstick so I knew I'd absolutely love this one. As with everything Charlotte Tilbury, it's in beautiful vintage style rose gold packaging.

The shape of the bullet is unique, I actually prefer these square shaped bullets as I think it makes the lipstick so much easier to apply. The only thing I would say about application, is that a dark shade like this would probably look better if I lined my lips before applying it. Even though it is matte, it is still creamy to apply and doesn't feel drying on the lips at all. Both Glastonberry and Bond Girl make my lips look more full. which is always wonderful! I will definitely be getting a lot of wear out of this lipstick over the next few months!

Do you own any Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks?

Team GB Cupcakes

In all honesty, this post was meant to go up on the day of the Rio Olympics opening ceremony but I didn't get time to make the cakes beforehand. So I thought I'd put it up now to celebrate that we are second place in the league table! I love these cute little Union Flags that I picked up, I thought they'd be perfect for Team GB cakes. I made plain vanilla cupcakes then thought I'd add on the flags to make them more special. I've really been enjoying watching the Olympics as usual, especially the swimming events.

Top 10 Songs This Week #1

I absolutely love music, I couldn't go a day without listening to it, so I thought I'd start this new series on my blog. I'm hoping for it to be a regular weekly series, with a new set of 10 songs I've been enjoying that week each Sunday. This week I've been enjoying two brand new songs, Good Summer by Kate Nash and Bang Bang by my favourite band, Green Day. I'm so happy that they've both released new music! Also a very special mention for an album I've been loving this week, the self-titled Viola Beach. This band ever so sadly passed away in a car crash earlier this year, the album was released posthumously. It is an incredible album and full of perfect songs for summer and I'm sure I'll be enjoying it for a long time.

1. Good Summer - Kate Nash
2. Swings and Waterslides - Viola Beach
3. Can't Stop The Feeling - Justin Timberlake
4. I Could've Been Your Girl - She & Him
5. Somebody Else - The 1975
6. Bang Bang - Green Day
7. Arguing With Thermometers - Enter Shikari
8. Hair - Little Mix
9. Trouble With My Baby - Paloma Faith
10. You Give Good Love - Whitney Houston

Primark Essentials Haul August 2016

Recently me and my Mom headed to Primark to pick up some essential bits. I prefer buying cheaper tights, socks and things like that as they get holes and ladders so easily. I was in desperate need of pyjamas, tights and a hair towel so made sure to pick those up whilst I was in there.

Alice in Wonderland Night Shirt - £5
How could I go into Primark without picking something Disney up?! I love night shirts and prefer them to pyjamas so when I saw this, I had to pick it up. Alice in Wonderland is one of my favourite Disney films so I have to buy everything Alice I see haha.

Hogwarts Night Shirt - £10
I thought this was a little pricey for a night shirt in Primark but maybe that's just me? I had to get it anyway because who doesn't love a bit of Hogwarts magic in their wardrobe! This will be perfect for the chillier nights as we get towards Autumn/Winter.

Hair Towel - £1.30
Like I said above, I was in desperate need of a hair towel. I can't wash my hair without one, I don't know how people cope.

Super Cosy Tights - £3.50
I've heard great things about these tights, so I picked some up ready for winter. I think they'll be perfect for walking round the German Market near Christmastime!

Pack of 3 Tights - £3.90
I always like to have black tights in my drawer and I was running out due to holes and ladders in previous pairs.

Pack of 5 Black Socks - £2
These are definitely essential, especially for work. I love how cheap they are, I don't have to worry about getting holes in them.

Brown Jean Belt - £2
Jeans never fit me properly. One size is too big, the size below is too small. So I've finally bought a belt to hold the bigger size up on my waist!

Pack of 2 Headbands - £2
One of these headbands is for something I'm doing later this week, I don't usually wear headbands but hopefully will wear these a bit.

5 Pack Bobbles - £1.50
I used to have Invisibobbles before I lost them all and really liked them, so I picked these up to try them out. I love that they're glittery.

Ursula Foldaway Bag - £2
I saw this at the till point and as I love The Little Mermaid I had to pick it up. Foldaway bags definitely come in handy now with the bag charge!

'Unnecessary Essentials' Wishlist

There are quite a few 'essentials' I'm in need of at the moment, so I thought it would be interesting to compile them in a wishlist post. Everyone has their different meanings for essentials, but these just happen to be what I'm calling essentials at the moment.

Tangle Teezer The Original
My first Tangle Teezer's life is coming to an end, mainly due to my super knotty hair and being dropped on the floor so many times during brushing. The bristles are all bending and the pink brush part is coming away from the purple back, so I definitely think it's time for a new one! I can't live without my Tangle Teezer, they really are incredible brushes when you have horrifically knotty hair like me.

Lush Catastrophe Cosmetics Face Mask
Lush face masks are an absolute treat, but I always used to forget to use them when I used to buy them during my A-Levels (probably the stress haha). I think now I'd remember to use the whole tub within the right amount of time and I'd love to try Catastrophe Cosmetic again. It's great knowing you can put a fresh face mask on without any nasties in it!

Bondi Sands Self-Tanning Foam Dark
I currently use the Light/Medium Foam and the Dark Lotion, however I prefer the colour that the dark tan gives and the formula of the foam. So I think a wise decision would be to buy a mixture of the two. I love tanning in warmer weather when it's too hot to keep my legs under wraps, so I think I'll be buying this before I give up tanning for winter.

MAC Studio Fix Powder
This is more of a luxury 'essential'. In all honesty, I just need powder and Rimmel Stay Matte is not cutting it. I've seen a lot of people using this powder and it looks really good. I also like the idea of how you can use it by itself, so I'd definitely like to pick this up at some point this year.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip-brow Pomade
Again, this is a luxury 'essential'. It just looks really good and I'd love to have brows that are on-fleek haha. At the moment I'm just using powder to fill in my brows, but I'd love to have the more defined brows that this pomade gives.

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser
This is one of my favourite cleansers, especially for a night-time cleanse. I'd love to stock up on this, especially before winter when it's quicker to apply this to your face and rinse it with a warm damp muslin cloth than it is to do a proper cleanse!

New Look Culotte Jumpsuit

White Tie Front Floral Culotte Jumpsuit & White Sandal Block Heels - New Look

I love a good excuse to buy a new outfit, so when I had an invite to a party, I hopped straight online to find something new to wear. I instantly fell in love with this pretty jumpsuit from New Look and managed to get it for less than £20 with a discount code, bonus! I've never owned a jumpsuit before so I wasn't sure whether it would suit me.

I love the floral pattern on the jumpsuit, that's mainly what drew me to it, the pretty flowers! It's perfect for a party with white block heels, exactly how I wore it to the party, but it would also look pretty for a nice meal out in the day with some sandals. The photos in this post were taken right before the party, on the same day I had blonde balayage done and I love it! It makes a nice change from my usually boring one colour hair haha.

Legendary Lashes Mascara | Charlotte Tilbury

There is only one beauty product that I will only own one at a time, that is mascara. So back in late June when I was in Covent Garden, I realised my Too Faced Better Than Sex would run out soon, so popped into the Charlotte Tilbury store to pick up a new mascara. I told one of the make up artists there that I wanted a good all rounder mascara and Legendary Lashes was what she suggested.

As with all Charlotte Tilbury packaging, it is rose gold and beautiful. It's so classic and you can certainly tell it is an expensive product. I love the eye illustration on the one side of the mascara and Legendary Lashes written in a beautiful font on the other side. The brush is the perfect size and shape, so it doesn't go all over my eyelids.

The mascara dries so quickly - I sneezed a few times five minutes after the first application and it didn't go all over my face like some other mascaras would! It makes my lashes the darkest black, which I love. It also makes them appear longer and gives them an amazing curl. The longest I tend to keep my mascara on is about 10 hours and after 10 hours, it had only slightly transferred to my undereyes and I have terribly oily eyelids. It doesn't flake at all either which is wonderful. When it came to taking it off, it was easily removed with some Bioderma on a cotton pad. I think it has taken over as my favourite mascara!

What's your favourite mascara?
