Benefit Roller Lash Launch

All photography is Chloe's (except the cupcakes)

Yesterday, I headed along to the launch of Benefit's new mascara, Roller Lash. I was really excited, I've never been to a launch before and I've barely seen anything about a new product before it hits the shelves. It was also exciting for such a brilliant event and brilliant brand to be in Birmingham, getting to go to an event in my hometown/city! Me and Chloe met up in town to head there together. We were standing outside this pretty lorry (two words I never thought I'd put together...) with a few of the other lovely ladies, all of us freezing cold, before the 'salon manager' in his dazzling sparkly jacket came outside to fetch us. Inside it looked amazing, TV's advertising Roller Lash, hairdryer and dryer hood light fittings, it looked like a gorgeous compact 1950's salon. Each of the benebabes, who were dressed up as 50's pin-up girls, talked us through their latest product Roller Lash mascara. Now I would include loads of information about it but then I'd have nothing to put in my review - all I can say is that I tried it for the first time today and I am loving it. Expect a review within the next few weeks.

You can get a sample of Roller Lash in this month's issue of Elle Magazine, which is out now!

Unhealthy to Healthy Lifestyle

I have always indulged in unhealthy, fatty foods that I would have never thought twice about eating before last year. I used to absolutely love processed foods like chicken nuggets, you name it. McDonald's tasted so good, so did fried chips. However, last year I noticed every time I ate fatty foods or unhealthy, greasy foods my stomach just wouldn't like it. I began to just enjoy the taste of the food but dread what was going to come next. I'd get awful stomach pains and feel so sick, I actually couldn't sleep and certainly couldn't cope with how bad it was. Eventually I came to a conclusion that I may be allergic to fats and the like that is put in this food, the best decision would be to stop eating fatty food altogether. I still carried on eating fatty food to a certain extent, when I would literally have no time to cook or was just so hungry. At this point in time, I have no craving for fatty food whatsoever, as I know what it does to my body. It's no secret that fatty foods make you feel sluggish anyway, but when they make you feel genuinely ill, I think that is when it is time to quit. I'm described by other people as a fussy eater. I won't eat pizza, greasy fried chicken and I've never eaten a beef burger in my life. However, I don't find myself that fussy because I love nearly every vegetable you can name!

Now I've started exercising and the Christmas food is all gone, I decided it was time to eat completely healthy. I still eat chocolate and donuts occasionally, it's not those type of things that make me feel ill, it is only fried greasy foods. A few examples of meals I will eat are: Roast Dinner Roast chicken, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, broccoli, babycorn, peas, sweetcorn and a yorkshire pudding. Butterfly Chicken Chicken breast sliced in half to make a 'butterfly' cooked in a griddle pan, peas and home made chips (chopped potato with fry light) or a jacket potato. Pasta Pasta with sweetcorn mixed in. I've also started making delicious smoothies. My favourite being made of raspberries, strawberries, mango, pineapple and apple juice.

Since changing my diet I've noticed I have not felt as unwell. I've also not been completely bloated and felt so sluggish like before. I'll still have the occasional junk food item but definitely not greasy meals. There was one day I did eat greasy food - my birthday - and I felt so ill I thought I was actually going to be sick. I think my body just likes to reject unhealthy, fatty food completely.

Maped Color'Peps Smoothy

As you can tell by the Christmassy bed covers, I was meant to put this post up about a month ago! The kind people at Maped sent these new watercolour crayons over for my three-year-old cousin to enjoy. Once I had taken the photographs of the crayons in the above packaging, I handed the reviewing job and photographing the crayons in action over to his Mom. I asked her to let me know what she thought of them and also what he thought of them. She told me that my cousin absolutely loved them and had so much fun with them. They were like a crayon in the packaging but they drew wet like a felt tip. She said she liked the concept of the crayons but unfortunately the nibs weren't very strong so they didn't last long.

One of the things I was glad to find with these crayons was the variety of colours in the pack. I remember when I was little trying to find a peachy shade in a pack of crayons and only being able to find a hot pink, resulting in extremely sunburnt looking drawings of my family. They look quite sturdy on the outside with plastic covering the actual crayon, meaning that hopefully when using them children won't get crayon all over their hands! The gel-like consistency of the crayons is interesting and I'm sure I would've loved these when I was little. It was unfortunate that the nibs weren't very strong but that's the only bad point about them, my cousin absolutely loved drawing with them and therefore they achieved the goal of keeping him occupied! I think if he was a bit older he would've enjoyed using a wet paintbrush to blend the colours together on the page.

Effaclar 3-Step Anti-Blemish System

Effaclar 3-Step Anti-Blemish System* - £32.50

The Effaclar Anti-Blemish system consists of 3 steps. The first is Cleanse, with Effaclar Purifying Gel Cleanser. This targets excess sebum and impurities. The second is Tone, with Effaclar Clarifying Toner. This targets large pores and oily skin. The last step is Correct & Hydrate, with Effaclar Duo+ Anti Blemish Cream. This targets blemishes, pores and marks. I have written a review about this previously, you can read it here

As a busy student with a job, I need skincare that is quick and easy to use. I don't want to have a massive skincare routine to sort out my oily skin and blemishes. That's where La-Roche Posay's Effaclar 3-Step Anti-Blemish System comes in. Each step is simple. To cleanse, you just have to lather the cleanser up and massage onto your face, then rinse. To tone, you just have to apply the toner to a cotton pad and 'sweep' it over your face. Then the last step, you just have to apply a thin layer of cream all over your face. It takes me less than 10 minutes in this morning for the whole skincare routine, whereas using other products that would get rid of my oiliness and spots would usually take a lot more time out of my day.

This skincare system is targeted at oily, blemish-prone skin and it is an understatement to say that is the perfect definition of my skin. Before I began to use these products, my skin was looking a bit worse for wear with spots, those pesky under the skin blemishes and by midday it would be looking greasy. I noticed a few days after first using this skincare that my spots and blemishes were rapidly declining and my skin was clearing up. They claim the skincare will mattify your skin and I can tell you it really does! The first week of trying this I went make-up free and I didn't even need that slight bit of powder to stop my skin from looking really oily! I can also touch my skin without that horrible oily residue coming off on my hand. It is my new favourite skincare routine and I'm sure once this set has run out I'll be repurchasing it. I urge you to try this if you have oily, blemished, sensitive skin like mine. Thank you to La-Roche Posay for sending me it to try - you have changed my skin completely!

Black on Black

Blanket Wrap, Top, Skirt - Primark, Boots, Ring - Pandora, Necklace, Earrings

I know it seems like I'm a bit late to the party, I didn't actually have chance to shoot this until recently! I saw blanket wraps in early Autumn and was lusting after them. At first I refrained from buying one, I thought if it's not going to keep me warm, what's the point. But then in late November I decided I just really wanted one whether it was going to keep me warm or not. I opted for the black and grey simple wrap, because it goes with so many items of clothing. I have mostly worn it with skirts, tights and boots, I think it looks especially lovely with skirts and dresses! I love blanket wraps worn with jeans as well, they look really wintery and cosy. I ordered the top from New Look at the same time as the wrap and I think they go really well together. I love high neck tops. I chose to pair the wrap with my leather skirt, I haven't actually worn this skirt that much since I bought it, but I think the whole outfit looks rather good together, even if it is all black! My favourite skirt to wear with the wrap and top is my Motel Annie Mandala Blue skirt, but I didn't want to bore you all by writing about it again. As always, most of my winter outfits I love to wear with my chelsea boots from Topshop. They're so warm and comfortable I literally love wearing them everywhere. They go perfectly with any outfit. I thought I'd add my Charmed Ivy Necklace to this outfit to break up the black a bit, I love the hamsa hands and it's such good quality!

2015 Wishlist

Fujifilm Instax SP-1 Printer - Tiffany Heart Tag Necklace - Vivienne Westwood Purse - MAC Ruby Woo - Nutribullet - Topshop Pyjamas
Now I have a job, it's a lot easier to save up and buy things I'd love to own or have wanted for ages. I'm looking forward to treating myself to things I've never been able to buy myself before. I condensed my wishlist down quite a bit, to the main items I'm loving at the moment and would love to own! There are too many items of clothing I want at the moment but I thought it would be most fun to put the pyjamas in!

Fujifilm Instax SP-1 Printer
I love Polaroid style prints and this would be a much cheaper option printing out photos than buying film for my Polaroid camera! I'd love an Instax Mini 8 but at the moment I think the WiFi printer would suffice, especially if I wanted to print out photos from my phone. I've already thought where I would pop this in my room - I definitely need to invest in this!

Return to Tiffany Heart Tag Necklace
I am absolutely obsessed with anything from Tiffany & Co. I love their necklaces, earrings, rings, bracelets and their engagement rings are to die for. I love this necklace so much, I'd definitely be wearing it everyday if I owned it. I think it's just a staple necklace and I'd proudly display that little blue box on my dressing table...

Vivienne Westwood Patent Wallet
I'm in desperate need of a new purse and what a better idea than to get one for life! I love Vivienne Westwood jewellery, purses, bags, you name it. This purse is absolutely stunning and I'd love to own it so much. This will definitely be a splurge I'm willing to make, this is on my wishlist because I've wanted one so much for so long!

MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick
Every girl needs a red lipstick right? I know I have about 100 but that's not the point - they're all different shades! Ruby Woo looks absolutely gorgeous and as it's different to Russian Red I can justify owning it.

I love smoothies, especially filled to the brim with berries. I'm buying a Breville Blend Active soon but once I've got more money I'd love to invest in this beauty. Considering it can chop nuts, oats and seeds and make soups I think it's worth buying. This will definitely be on my Christmas list if I don't buy one for myself before then.

Disney Princess Selfie Pyjama Set
I love the Topshop pyjamas, they're all so cute, especially the Disney ones. I love these as it's a classic selfie with Disney Princesses thrown onto pyjamas. Short pyjamas are also the comfiest as they don't roll up in your sleep. I'd love to buy a pair of these, maybe next payday.

What's on your wishlist for 2015?

2015 Goals

We all think of goals we'd like to achieve within a year and I prefer to call them goals rather than resolutions, I feel like if I call them resolutions I definitely won't do them! I have quite a few goals for this year, I think most of them are achievable within a year or at least I hope they are.

Driving Lessons
This is one I'd really love to achieve this year. I have two main aims to do with driving lessons. The first is to save up all the money I need for driving lessons, so I don't have to start and stop all the time. The next is to begin driving lessons because hopefully I'll have saved up enough money to begin them. The big goal within this is that I'll actually pass between now and the 31st December 2015! I doubt that's achievable, but if it happened I'd be very proud of myself.

Pass Beauty Course
This is fairly achievable, I just need to pass all my assessments in time. At the moment I haven't passed many because I haven't tried to, but by June I should have passed them all and passed the whole course!

Apply to University
This is one of my biggest goals of the year. I'm beginning my access course in September which I'm ever so excited to start, because it will hopefully get me on track to university. I'm going to start writing my personal statement as soon as college finishes this June, so I'm ready to apply for the deadline of my course, October half term!

Enjoy life, be more positive
I don't know if it's very clear on my blog but I tend to be quite a negative person, I don't see the good side to most things. This year I'd love that to change and be more positive about everything, even negative situations. That would also include smiling more!

Stay Organised
I'm fairly organised anyway, but when I get too busy I tend to let my organisation slip away. I'm hoping to keep organised for the whole of the year. I now have two diaries and a weekly planner so I should keep organised. I also have all of the blogger chats scheduled into the calendar on my phone, which is really handy and will help me to join in more.

Be proud of my blog!
This is one of my biggest goals. My blog has been going for a year and a half now, I have had many downs and quite a few ups with this little blog. I haven't felt very proud of it and that's why I don't really show it to anyone! I'm hoping this year for Beautrina to grow and make it into the blog I want it to be, but most of all be proud of it.

My Year, 2014

2014 was a very busy year for me, I did so much and it went so fast. Every month was jam packed and near the end of the year I found no time at all to be bored. Overall I think it's been quite a good year and I feel my blog has improved this year, however there is certainly still room for improvement and that is my 2015 plan!

This was a fairly busy month. In January, me and Ryan celebrated our 5 year anniversary. which is a rather long time considering our age! I was super happy about that, ecstatic even and I'm so excited to be celebrating 6 years in 11 days! On the 21st of January, I turned 18 and that weekend I had an 18th party! I don't feel like this is a huge milestone even though it is - you don't change overnight and I definitely didn't feel any different.

I don't think much happened in February that was very life changing or eventful. I just remember being horrendously ill for the first time in ages, that's not a good memory at all! Ryan bought me flowers for the first time, which was the cutest thing ever. I also went on my first night out in February.

In March I went to my first ever blogger meet up. I was so nervous but I met a fair few lovely people from it so I was happy I went! It was lovely to meet so many people that enjoyed doing the same thing as me and bonding over shopping of course!

April was quite an exciting month. I took my Mom to see Gary Barlow at the LG Arena on the 8th and was back there on the 11th seeing Justin Timberlake perform! They were both amazing performers and I absolutely loved seeing them both. I also uploaded my first fashion post in April and got quite a lot of good feedback, this is why I hope to make my blog more fashion orientated as it interests me a lot more and everyone else enjoys it too.

In May, I went to see McBusted, who were absolutely amazing and I'm going to see them again this year. I'm so excited. The rest of the month was mostly revising and doing my exams, certainly not a fun part of the year.

June was filled with exams and was not fun! My exams finished and Ryan turned 18, which was fun. We celebrated his birthday by going for a lovely meal and had a lovely time.

This month I went to Wireless Festival, which was really good. I got to see a fair few artists, one of my favourites being Pharell, especially when he did old N*E*R*D songs! I also took my first trip with my friends to London. We went to quite a few places in one day and we were all exhausted by the end of it. I had my first smoothie from Boost on Oxford St which was beautiful. I went to Whitby with my brother for a few days and it was quite nice to be right by the beach, although I think I did get a bit of sunstroke as I burnt a lot and I felt really ill by the end of it! Me and Ryan also started watching Game of Thrones which was amazing! The biggest achievement of July was organising my first blogger meet! I didn't realise how stressful trying to sort out goody bags would be haha.

This was quite a busy month! I went to Summer in the City this month and it was amazing. Me and Chloe met the SacconeJoly's who were the loveliest people and Lily & Anna. All of them were so nice and exactly the same as they are on their videos, which is absolutely lovely. I saw Ryan live with the band he's in for the first time, which was amazing and it made me feel so proud of him. After that was my A-Level Results Day which was probably the worst day of the whole year for me. The gutting feeling that you've worked so hard and not got the grades you needed for university is awful, I definitely cried a lot. I had my nails done for the first ever time in August, by Rosie and they were the greatest. I loved having Game of Thrones nails! During the end of the month, I headed to Newquay with Ryan and his family for a little holiday. We went to my favourite beach, Hayle and that made me so happy, I hadn't been since I was 6! Other than the Cider farm, that was amazing although it did feel weird as if we were doing drinking games with strangers...
I started a new college this month and moved over from A-Levels to an interest. I decided as I couldn't find a full time job I needed to do something with my time, that's when I thought, beauty. It could be useful someday and I'm interested in it. I definitely wouldn't choose it as a career though, it's just not for me.

This was probably the busiest month other than August. I went to Sheffield to visit Alice at university and we went out, it was so much fun! I also had my first interview in two years this month. I thought it went so badly so I was very surprised when I was offered the job! I was so happy and shocked. I started the job in October too and it is literally my favourite place. When I was younger, I never thought I'd enjoy work but I work with a bunch of lovely people and do such a nice job, I love it. I decided to chop my hair from my waist to my shoulders this month, in all honesty I'd seen a photo of Lauren Conrad with short hair on the day I got it cut and that's why I decided to go for it. I also went to two blogger events, FABB and Costa Bingo which were both lovely and so fun.

I went to see Rise Against this month and Emily's Army supported them. I met them again and they even stood with us when Rise Against were on, they're such lovely guys! I also went to see Paloma Faith who was absolutely amazing as per usual, I'd love to see her again. S Club 7 announced they were touring and it was the most exciting moment of my year, I cried so much when they split up. I went to London with my Mom and we went to the Tower of London to see the poppies, they also played the Last Post which is emotional! I went to two blogger events this month also. The first was the Smiggle event which was rather good and I can never forget the scented pencils. The last was #bhmbloggermeet which was absolutely amazing and I had the best time.

I went to the Clothes Show this month and picked up my Sensationail bargain which was a highlight. I went to my first works meal which was lovely, getting to know everyone I work with. I went to the German Market a fair few times this month, which was cold but lovely. I visited Alice in Sheffield again which was fun and a break I really needed. Right near the end of the year I was asked if I'd like to become a permanent employee at my workplace and of course I said yes! I love it there so much and I'm over the moon that they wanted to keep me.

I have a lot of plans for 2015. The first is to be more proud of my blog, which means rethinking the content and improving the quality of writing and photos I put on my posts. I think trying to post three days in a week when I have work three days and college four days is unrealistic so I'm condensing this down to two days a week, Monday and Thursday. I'm hoping to make my blog more fashion orientated so let me know what you'd like to see. Other plans of mine are to do more and waste less time. In 2014, I hardly went out anywhere and I'd love to change that in 2015. In September, I'm hopefully starting my access course to get me onto the path I need to be on for next September - exciting!
Happy New Year!
